This is a site created by parents for parents.  It doesn’t prescribe what you should teach your kids.  For example we do say you should teach your kids about religion and about sex – but we don’t say WHAT you should teach them on those subjects.  So it should give you ideas, a framework, a checklist, a comparison with others.  Click the main content buttons for suggestions and views on what kids should know.

Raising children is a big job.  No-one does it completely right, no-one knows all the answers but we can benefit from others’ knowledge and experience.  Larkin’s famous poem (slightly sanitised) begins “They mess you up, your Mum and Dad.  They may not mean to, but they do”.  We may not mean to, but we do – let’s try to minimize the harm we do and maximise the happiness our children can have.
